According to a Newtec White Paper just 4% of the US market by 2016 will have a 4k capable UHDTV set in their homes, hotels, businesses etc, and there will only be 15% worldwide penetration by the year 2020.
Well to even reach those numbers you have to start somewhere, and get a 4K signal to those screens.
Canal+ has successfully demonstrated a UHDTV transmission over satellite test to an eager audience in Madrid Spain.
Shot at 8K the commercial transmitted originally followed a 4K workflow and then encoded in H.264 4:2:0-format at 42 Mbps.
