If we said there is a camera system out there shooting amazing footage off of a 14×14 inch sensor you would call us crazy, right?
Well there is such a system and it’s the MiniCyclops camera, but there is also the 20×20 inch sensor camera system called the ECyclops out there as well.
Gonzalo Ezcurra from Argentina is an inventor and the developer of the world’s first motion picture camera system with a 20×20 inch sensor called the ECyclops and the 14×14 inch sensor MiniCyclops camera system.
The large sensor camera projects have been going on for a few years for Gonzalo, and you can keep tabs on the latest work from the cameras on his Facebook page.
The MiniCyclops its a DOF adaptor but with a giant size fixed ground glass (14×14″ – patented manufacturing process), and the capture camera, can be any camera…
The innovation of MiniCyclops is that a normal lens (45 ° FOV) is a 500mm F/6 with a hyperfocal about 1600 feet, and owns an a hyper-critic depth of field unique in the world for a motion camera. Addition to having a cushion of high and low lights that increases the dynamic range and creates exclusives 3D volumes… thanks to optimal management of chiaroscuro.
