Olan Collardy tried out three different 35mm lenses on the Blackmagic URSA MINI 4.6K camera. The three lenses tested are the Dog Schidt Optiks FF38 (+ FF58), Leica Summicron-R 35mm f2, and the Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine.

Thought I’d pit my 35mm lenses against each other [on the URSA MINI 4.6K] in a battle of character. These lenses are surprisingly roughly about the same the price. Note that you need the DSO FF58 in combination with the FF38.
Paired against the Leica, the Rokinon wasn’t too bad, surprised by how good/sharp it was. However, the Leica colour is simply remarkable. It’s interesting how each lens renders the talents face. He looked almost different in each shot. This underscores the importance of carrying out a lens tests during screen testing with actors.
