JVC at Outdoor Retailer, the largest gathering of the outdoor industry, is demonstrating its full line of rugged, all-weather camcorders, including conventional full-featured models and a wearable point-of-view cam. The company’s new Everio camcorders feature JVC’s “Quad-Proof” structure – waterproof to a depth of 5 meters/16.4 feet, the ability to withstand a drop from 1.5 meters/4.9 feet, freeze-proof down to –10˚C/14˚F and dust proof – packaged in a familiar camcorder form factor. Rounding out their all-weather versatility, they float. And for extending outings on the water, the internal battery can provide 4.5 hours of recording.
The new Everio line’s Quad-Poof technologies were first offered in JVC’s Adixxion action camera, designed for shooting point-of-view action video. The Adixxion GC-XA2 offers the same weather-protection specs, but it can withstand a drop from 2 meters/6.5 feet. It features a built-in LCD monitor and Wi-Fi for streaming video to a smartphone, uploading to YouTube and still image transfer.
JVC’s Quad-Proof Everio camcorders offer a combination of performance capabilities and innovative features for those who want to take their videos beyond what a smartphone or other camcorders can deliver. In addition to their weather- and shock-proof attributes, JVC’s new Everio camcorders feature a KONICA MINOLTA HD LENS with 40x optical zoom, 2.5 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, audio technology that reduces wind noise, and compatibility with third-party editing software, including iMovie and Final Cut Pro X.
Contributing to the camcorders’ IPX8 certified waterproof properties and IP5X dust resistance is the internal high-capacity battery, which eliminates the risk of damaging the camera while changing batteries in bad weather. Moreover, Everio is compatible with third-party portable batteries (the type used with smartphones for emergency charging). Video can be shot while charging to go beyond the internal battery’s 4.5 hours, or Quick Charge for one hour and add an extra 1.3 hours of recording time if the portable battery current is over 1.0A.
The three new JVC Everio camcorders are differentiated by internal memory capacity, the inclusion of a built-in LED light in the GZ-R70 and GZ-R30, and the GZ-R10 is available in black, blue and red.
They are available at the following prices:
Model Price Memory Body Color
GZ-R70: $499.95 32GB Internal/Card Slot Black
GZ-R30 $449.95 8GB Internal/Card Slot Black
GZ-R10: $399.95 Card Slot Black, Blue or Red
For those who want a wearable action camera, JVC offers the GC-XA2 Adixxion. It offers 1920 x 1080 60p Progressive Full HD recording, and 1280 x 720 high-speed recording at 120fps/100fps for 4x slow-motion playback. Other features include a bright, wide-angle optical lens, image stabilization, and a built-in LCD monitor with Auto off and Auto brightness functions.
The GC-XA2 has built-in Wi-Fi and can use itself as an access point for streaming live to a smartphone or to USTREAM, uploading to YouTube, and still image transfer. The JVC Adixxion app offers Quad View, among other features, which allows video streams from four separate Adixxion cameras to be viewed simultaneously on a smartphone screen.
The GC-XA2 Adixxion is available now for $299.95.
