Applying 3D LUTs to Rushes in DaVinci Resolve from Convergent Design on Vimeo.
1. Add the necessary LUTs to the Resolve LUT library by going to the Lookup Tables tab of the Project Settings window and clicking the Open LUT Folder button. In Finder, drag the LUTs into the Resolve LUT folder, then back in Resolve click the Update Lists button, then the Apply button.
2. In the Media widow, navigate to your clips in the browser and then drag them to the media pool.
3. You can apply LUTs "at source" in the media pool by selecting one or several clips, right-clicking, and choosing a 3D LUT from the contextual menu. Look in the Finder at the XML file for the clip created by CDProResTransfer to check what the active LUT in the Odyssey was when the clip was recorded.
4. To create an assembly timeline, you can either select clips in the media pool, right-click and chose Create Timeline From Selected Clips, or in the Edit window you can create a new timeline and add clips to it.
5. Apply LUTs to individual clips by right-clicking a node in the Clip node panel and selecting a 3D LUT.
6. Group clips by selecting them, right-clicking and choosing Add Into New Group. You then get additional modes for the node panel to apply LUTs pre-clip or post-clip to the group.
7. If you go to Timeline mode in the node panel you can apply a LUT to the whole timeline, downstream of all other adjustments.
8. Use the Offset control in the primaries panel to adjust the exposure and white balance of the clip prior to the LUT to either normalise a clip or apply a look.
9. In the Deliver page render the clips based on a template. For example the Export to Final Cut Pro template creates one graded QuickTime for each source clip, with the same name and timecode. Make any changes from the template, such as changing codec, choose a destination for the rendered files, then click Add Job to Render Queue, and then Start Render.
