Birdycam 2

The Varavon Birdycam 2 is the newest version of Varavon’s affordable 3-axis gimbal camera stabilizer. It offers a great variety of use for most DSLR filmmakers. The Birdycam is geared towards filmmakers with a smaller rig since it does have a 5.5 lbs limit. We use it with a Canon 6D and either a Tamron 24-70mm or a Canon 16-35mm Mark II giving us a broad range to shoot from.

One of the best features of the Birdycam 2 is that it can be operated by a single person. It has a joystick near the right handle making it easy for the operator to pan, tilt, or follow a person like we did the video above. It takes less than 10 minutes to calibrate it if you have little to no experience with it but after getting to understand it, it takes no more than 5 minutes to be ready to go.

We highly recommend that people use if for a bit to get used to it because it has a small learning curve.

The only downfalls we can possibly see is the weight limit. In reality though this isn’t a big deal though because most of our filming is done with smaller lenses and average DSLRs. The Varavon Birdycam 2 is a great tool to use if you want to take your filmmaking to a new level.

If you want to use it for your next shoot make a reservation at IE Photo Rentals.
