A super quick one for you. As you know Sony with their point and shoot stills cameras in video mode and their video handycams have been rocking it with smooth fantastic steadycam features of late. Well now you can expect even more stabilization on your shots on the small domestic consumer cams with Sony’s Balanced Optical SteadyShot and floating lens design. The Optical SteadyShot has been around for a bit on cameras like the HXR-NX30 and is now filtering down to the little cost effective cameras. Now how about we pair up one of these SteadyShot cameras with a Quadrocopter, Hexacopter, or Octocopter and get our in-camera stabilization on.

Video thanks to StaplesTechTV:

The innovative Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system eliminates the influence of vibrations from the body by enclosing the entire optical block, from the lens to the image sensor, in a “floating” space. Combined with electronic image stabilization that compensates for rotation around the optical axis, this new system provides powerful image stabilization even when shooting whilst zooming, which was previously difficult to achieve. So now you can record stable images with minimal blur, every time.
