The new firmware version 2.03 of Panasonic Varicam35 make the camera to shoot 4K 4096×2160 in 2 new codec; AVC-Intra444 12bit and AVC-Intra 422-LT.
AVC-Intra444 12bit 4K 4096×2160 can record at 23.98, 24, 25 and 29.98fps.
AVC-Intra 422-LT can record in normal shooting mode and variable high preset frame rate at 50, 75 and 100fps.
I had a very quick test of this new firmware update at Big Eye Co,Ltd. I had test recording of AVC-Intra 444, AVC-Intra 422 and AVC-Intra 422-LT.
After the shot done we brought these clips to DaVinci Resolve 11.2. The AVC-Intra444 12bit and AVC-Intra422 fitted perfectly in Resolve, but the new AVC-Intra422-LT all frame rate could not display correctly. It squezed.
I had tried to fix it, then I got it.
I exported the squezed file to DPX 10bit at 1920×1080 resolution. Then I brought those DPX sequenze into Premiere Pro CC and unsqueze the image to normal.
The image looks great at 100fps.
I reduced the size from 4K to Full HD because the file size of 4K DPX is so huge.
This is my solution for now in shooting AVC-Intra422-LT in both normal speed and high speed.
