In the run-up to NAB 2011 – the world’s largest electronic media show, which runs from 9-14th April, in Las Vegas – Panasonic is making a series of news announcements introducing innovative broadcast hardware and software products which further underscore the company’s leadership in the development of video formats and core products for broadcast and professional AV.

Panasonic introduces AJ-PCD30 P2 Drive with blazing fast transfer speeds via USB 3.0 interface
Panasonic’s AJ-PCD30 P2 Drive is a new three-slot P2 device with a super-speed USB 3.0 interface that delivers the industry’s fastest offloads from a solid-state source. The new USB 3.0 standard facilitates dramatically higher transfer rates of up to 4.8Gbps, which achieves offloading AVC-Intra 100 footage at more than 15X real-time, making the PCD30 especially well-suited for use in long-form production.
Panasonic announces 3D ready AG-HPD24 Deck with native 24P recording |New Workflow Tool Features Super-Fast USB 3.0 Interface and HDMI Output
Panasonic’s new solid-state AG-HPD24 P2 half rack deck has powerful features including 3D synchronized record/playback; native 24P recording with variable frame rates; a super-fast USB 3.0 interface; and 24-bit, four-channel audio recording in AVC-Intra 100/50. Featuring AVC-Intra 100/50 record/playback, the HPD24 makes 10-bit, 4:2:2 master-quality video affordable and portable.
Panasonic announces new RRPs for P2 cards
Panasonic has announced new reduced RRPs for its entire line-up of high-capacity, high-speed P2 cards. From this February, the company’s E-Series of 64GB, 32GB and 16GB P2 cards will be available with lower RRPs.
Panasonic announces new high-performance 23cm (9-inch) BT-LH910 LCD production monitor
Panasonic is introducing the BT-LH910, a powerful new 23cm (9-inch) LCD monitor for field and studio applications. Breakthrough features include a new high brightness, high contrast IPS panel that affords the best picture quality in its class; newly- developed 3D assist functions; and professional interfaces including HDMI and 3G-SDI. Equally suitable for production, broadcast and institutional applications, the cost-effective BT-LH910 can be utilized on-camera as an electronic viewfinder, on location, and in mobile or live settings. The BT-LH910 will be available in April.

Panasonic’s versatile wireless system for its new AJ-HPX3100 master quality 1080p P2 HD camera recorder simplifies the process of utilizing user-selected metadata. Comprised of the AJ-WM30 wireless module and AJ-SFU3100 software, the new system promotes a seamless transfer of critical camera information between the HPX3100 and a vast population of intelligent devices including PCs, iPads and iPhones. The new AJ-WM30 wireless module and AJ-SFU3100 software key will both be available in April.
SOFTWARE
Panasonic announces archiving software for P2 content
Panasonic is introducing new software products, the AJ-SF110 Video Ingest software and AJ-SF100 Linear Tape-Open (LTO) Archive software, to facilitate the secure storage and easy retrieval of P2 content. The software supports all P2 card sizes, formats and frame rates. The AJ-SF100 software for archiving P2 files to LTO, Blu-ray Disk (BD) or other storage devices features proxy creation, metadata editing and working with data base software (SQL server) functions. The AJ-SF110 for video ingesting via IEEE1394 or SDI converts the footage on connected Video Recorder to P2 files such as AVC-Intra 100/50, DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO and DV during ingestion. The AJ-SF100 LTO Archive software and AJ-SF110 Video Ingest software are available in May.
Panasonic announces “AVCCAM Importer” software accelerating and streamlining import of AVCHD files into Final Cut Pro
Panasonic is also introducing “AVCCAM Importer” software, a free QuickTime plug-in that eliminates the need to convert AVCHD files to ProRES422 files before editing in Final Cut Pro. AVCCAM Importer is software for Apple Final Cut Pro to enable direct editing of AVCHD “.mts” files without conversion. The AVCCAM importer will be available this soon by free download from the Panasonic Web site.
