This is an introduction and behind the scenes video about the recently completed Vintage Cinema Lens Library. I teamed up with Brent Barbano from ShareGrid and Matthew Duclos from Duclos lenses and we set out to create the most thorough vintage lens comparison test possible. We had one weekend and a small crew, lead by DP Kyle Stryker to test out more than 40 individual lenses. I donated every lens in my inventory and we got a few additional sets generously donated for the weekend. It was an eye-opening experience and we hope that cinematographers and directors find it to be a valuable resource when it comes to choosing the right lens for a project. The finished library includes a quad-split video player to compare 4 lenses at once, a bokeh chart as well as other useful info.
