I have had quite a few dealings with Hot Rod Cameras and I must say that Illya is a stand up guy with the reputation, drive, industry knowledge, and rock solid product to back that up. So when I heard he was talking to the Digital Bolex guys it got my attention straight away. On CML some guys were less than impressed with the final design of the d16, with some citing concerns over lens choices and lens mount… I think Digital Bolex and Hot Rod Cameras may put a finger to the lips to quieten a few folks with Illya’s designs for that camera.
Right now they are suggesting you may see the 3rd party PL mount come out for under a grand. If you are going to smack a huge chunk of cine grade piece of glass on that tiny d16 body then that’s going to be money well spent on something coated green.
