A music video project for Melbourne based indy trio Celadore. Directed by Sean Rodrigo.
After a few brainstorming sessions we came up with the idea of doing a ‘Wedding Singer’ inspired clip, with the band overseeing a nightmare of a wedding reception. The opening best man speech was constructed from a online list of ‘Things not to say in a best man speech’, delivered fantastically by actor Jayson McCarthy
Shot on mostly half speed on the Canon 7d & 5dmarkII as B-cam, using Redrock micro and SmallHD. Shots were all handheld, using mostly the Canon 50mm f1.4 , 24mm f1.4 and 24-105mm f4.
Because of the tight deadline we went to edit, and were able to bypass grading, because all colour was achieved in camera through costume, location and lighting.
With help from our talented Art director Georgie, a lot of work went into costume and limiting the colour pallet to light blue, reds and yellows. Eugene (our DOP) used a Redhead with chimera and polecat setup to light the table shots and incorporated orange gels as highlights in the portrait style shots of the bridesmaids and the best man pouring wine on himself.
An 80’s wedding goes bad when guests from hell hijack the proceedings, to the horror of the unsuspecting wedding band.
